In addition to transforming iOS and Android devices into handheld consoles that do not rely on problematic touchscreen controls, the new GameSir G8 Plus can replace the Switch’s Joy-Cons with more ergonomic alternatives that are impervious to joystick drift. The GameSir G8 Plus, unlike many clamp-on mobile gaming controllers, connects by Bluetooth rather than a USB-C or Lightning connector. That’s how it can connect to smartphones, tablets, the Switch, and even PCs without forcing customers to select a version with a specific port. The trade-off is that the gamepad is powered by two 500mAh rechargeable batteries. That’s one additional attachment you’ll have to remember to charge, and it adds about 314 grams to whatever you clamp it to.The GameSir G8 Plus also includes drift-resistant Hall effect sensors in its joysticks and analog triggers, guaranteeing that gamers never encounter unwanted button presses or motions. The triggers can be changed to a “Hair Trigger Mode” to make them more responsive for FPS players.ALSO READ: Lenovo Tab Plus released with eight speakers And large-screen tablet for Rs 22,999A six-axis gyroscope supports motion controls, while a pair of vibration motors provides haptic feedback. The G8 Plus can even wake the Switch with a single button press, which is a functionality that many third-party controllers lack. The clamping mechanism on the controller may stretch to 215 millimeters to accommodate larger smartphones and tablets such as the iPad Mini. It’s also adjustable, with magnetic faceplates that can be simply removed and interchangeable caps for the joysticks and buttons. It’s a good feature for gamers who want to customize their hardware, but only when alternative faceplates are available. The corporation says those are still in the works. The GameSir G8 Plus supports Bluetooth, allowing it to connect to a PC and function as a standalone wireless controller without a mobile device attached. Gamers looking for reduced lag can connect directly to a PC using a USB-C cable. The GameSir G8 Plus is now available for $79.99. That’s less than the $99.99 Backbone One and the same price as a set of replacement Joy-Cons, which may still develop joystick drift.
