Apple releases iOS 18 beta 4 for developers

Apple has now made available for developers the iOS 18 beta 4 update, after the public release of the first iOS 18 beta last week.

Since the firm unveiled iOS 18 at the WWDC 2024 event last month, Apple has released four developer updates.

iOS 18 beta 4 developer update: What’s new

A new "Controls Menu" has been introduced to the Camera app's settings in Apple iOS 18 Developer beta 4. "When expanding the controls menu, rather than showing the list of camera tools," this new feature will "preserve the previously used camera tool."

Eight new wallpapers in both light and dark modes are also available for CarPlay users with the iOS 18 beta 4. The new flashlight user interface (UI) is now available on more phones thanks to this update.  Previously only available on the iPhone 15 Pro series, it is now available on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

In addition, a new iPhone Mirroring icon has been added to the Lock Screen. The "Subscriber" badge in the iCloud menu now has a new animation thanks to the addition of this feature in iOS 18 developer beta 4.  Apple has added functionality for RCS texting to its subscriber base in Spain, Canada, and the UK.

However, users who were expecting some Apple Intelligence features to be introduced in the latest developer update will be disappointed, as those features may not be out before 2025.
