Good news for Prayagraj: With a cost of almost Rs 500 crore, work on a six-lane bridge over the Ganga has started.

The National Highways Authority of India has begun building a six-lane bridge across the Ganges to link Naini and Jhunsi as part of the Ring Road Project. The bridge will span a distance greater than three kilometers.

June 2026 is the deadline that the NHAI has set for the bridge’s completion. This will require spending more than Rs 500 crore in the budget. There will be two six-lane bridges over the Ganges in Tirtharaj Prayagraj following the building of this bridge.

The second six-lane bridge, which will link Naini and Jhunsi, will facilitate travel to numerous states, like as West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Vehicles from these states will eliminate the traffic congestion in Jhunsi and Naini. Following the completion of this bridge, there will be less traffic on Jhunsi’s Shastri Bridge and the new Yamuna Bridge.

The second six-lane bridge, which will link Naini and Jhunsi, will facilitate travel to a number of states, including West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Vehicles from these states will experience a reduction in the traffic congestion in Jhunsi and Naini. Following the completion of this bridge, there will be less traffic on Jhunsi’s Shastri bridge and the new Yamuna bridge.

The first phase’s construction got underway in February.

Beginning in February, the first phase of the ring road project is being built. A six-lane bridge across the Ganga is proposed for the first phase. The ring road is to be built up to 29.500 kilometers in the first phase. It would be constructed from Dandupur village near Rewa Road to Sahason.

Pankaj Mishra, Project Director for NHI, stated:

The first phase of the ring road project involves building a six-lane bridge to connect Naini and Jhunsi. Construction has begun on this bridge. The bridge’s construction is to be finished by June 2026, per the instructions. The construction of the ring road and bridge will pick up speed after the rain.
